*UPDATE* The hatchet-wielding man who attacked four NYPD officers earlier today and was then shot dead by police may have had ties to ISIS, sources told Vocativ. Law-enforcement sources we spoke with identified Zale Thompson as the armed man who charged at a group of NYPD uniformed police assembled on a street corner in Jamaica, Queens, at around 2 p.m. today. The 32-year-old Muslim, who lived in Queens, struck one of the officers in the back of the head with his hatchet and gashed another on the arm, the police said. (link) –Facebook HERE–
Two other officers fired on the man, stopping the attack. The assailant was pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old female bystander was also struck by a bullet and underwent surgery at Jamaica Hospital, where she’s recovering, officials said.
The officers, all recent graduates of the Police Academy assigned to the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica, were asked to pose for a picture by a freelance photographer at the intersection of 162nd Street and Jamaica Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. when the man attacked them from behind, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.
The suspect “charged at the officers with a hatchet in his hand,” Bratton said. “Unprovoked and not speaking a word, the male then swung at one of the officers with a hatchet, striking his right arm. After striking that officer, the suspect continuing swinging the hatchet, striking a second officer in the head.”

The deadly encounter took place on Jamaica Ave. near 160th St., when the man attacked four cops, police sources said. He swung a hatchet at the officers, hitting two of them, one of whom was dealt a severe head wound. Two cops then shot and killed the man. A woman bystander was accidental hit in the back in the attack. She was initially listed in critical condition, but expected to survive.
Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” Rep Peter King (R-NY) said the man accused of attacking New York City police officers with an ax, putting one officer in critical condition with a head wound and the other in stable condition with an arm injury, is a radical Muslim with “terrorist Islamic leanings.”
King said, “A number of people I’ve spoken to clearly there were radical Islamic statements that he’s made. I can’t tell you exactly where I’ve gotten all of this but there’s documentation showing he’s very much anti-white. certainly he is a Muslim. I’ve heard that, maybe black Muslim. Whether or not it was ISIS, I don’t know. But clearly this is a person who has at least some terrorist Islamic leanings. Certainly radical Islamic leanings. Hear with what’s happened over the last several days, whether or not he actuality is with ISIS, which probably is not the case, don’t want to prejudge that. If he does have mental issues, that’s when something like this, when you see what ISIS is doing, people like this they can be provoked. They can act.”

as if we’re saying: “Blacks killing one another is what blacks do
best.” How’s
that for racism! Not the old fashioned KKK kind. No, this is elite

racism, the supposedly softer variety. And Al Sharpton doesn’t jump on
a plane
to show up when a black thug kills a white victim. He’s not in business
to
protest that kind of crime. Some people just can’t get past the bad old
days.
They need to feel that America is still a simmering racist country.
They need
to feel that black kids are being hunted down like rabid dogs by modern
day
Bull Connors. In a perverse way, it makes them feel good – maybe
“relevant” is
a better word – to think that nothing has changed in America since the
March on
Selma. But they are partly right, those who think young black men are
in the
crosshairs. According to the Justice Department’s latest statistics
(2005), although
African-Americans make up 13 percent of the population, they represent
49
percent of the nation’s homicide victims – and 93 percent of those black
victims were killed by other black people.
