Voters overwhelmingly believe wealthy donors and special interest groups pull the strings in Washington, but that the even bigger problem is media political bias.
A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 76% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the wealthiest individuals and companies have too much influence over government decisions. Just four percent (4%) say wealthy individuals and companies have too little influence in Washington, while 15% say their level of influence is about right. (To see survey question wording, click here.) 44% of Voters say its the biggest problem, but in the same survey 48% say the biggest problem in politics is the political bias of the news media.
We get bombarded with news reporters and talk shows and politicians complaining about the 2nd biggest problem, while the biggest is ignored. That indicates the voters are right about what is the biggest problem.
Which way does the public say the reporters corrupt the news to help politicians? The same polling company Rasmussen asked that question in the last presidential election.
By over a 5 to 1 ratio voters say that reporters, the news media, was corrupting the news to help Democrats and hurt Republicans.
This backs up other polls that say even most Democrats think there is a problem with the news media promoting Democrats over Republicans. This is further backed up with studies that show only 7% of reporters identify as Republicans.
And in addition to Democrat voters saying there is a problem, super pro Democrat Harvard University has agreed in a study:
Harvard University says that the Media overwhelmingly favors Democrats in their coverage, you’ve got to finally accept that it is true. The MSM loves Democrats and hates Republicans. It’s just that simple.Investor’s Business Daily gives us the low down on the gushingly positive coverage that the MSM bestows upon their favored political party by reporting the results of the Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy from Harvard (“hardly a bastion of conservative orthodoxy” as IBD quips). The survey found that the “media are sympathetic to Democrats and hostile to Republicans.” Here on Newsbusters we say, “DUH!”
Democrats are not only favored in the tone of the coverage. They get more coverage period. This is particularly evident on morning news shows, which “produced almost twice as many stories (51% to 27%) focused on Democratic candidates than on Republicans.” The most flagrant bias, however, was found in newspapers. In reviewing front-page coverage in 11 newspapers, the study found the tone positive in nearly six times as many stories about Democrats as it was negative. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2007/11/02/even-harvard-says-msm-biased-democrats
So if Hillary and Bernie were truly concerned about the corruption of politics they would be talking more about the pro-Democrat news media corruption than campaign finance that they talk about seemingly in every public speech. Do they? Nope not ever. This objectively shows that they are insincere on this matter. That Clinton and Sanders are in favor of what Americans say is the number one problem corrupting politics today. Why? The answer is so obvious there is no need to mention it.
