Documentary Film Exposes IRS Corruption

We have heard a great deal in the last three years about corruption in the IRS with the targeting of conservative and religious groups and withholding tax exempt status from those organizations. We have plenty of proof that “liberal” organizations like MoveOn, ACORN and other purely political liberal organizations, had no issues getting that tax exempt status from the IRS.

Not only were the “conservative” organizations dealing with an avalanche of unnecessary and illegal questionnaires at a critical time prior to the election, but individual citizens were improperly targeted with a multitude of government investigations and slander.

What may be as disturbing as the actions taken, is the cover up, which insults the intelligence of any human being with average intelligence. Crashed hard drives, no required backup, erased text messages and so on.

A documentary, “UnFair: Exposing the IRS”, has been made that explores this targeting scandal that will appear in certain movie theaters tonight only.

The 90-minute documentary intertwines commentary by prominent politicians and pundits such as Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Glenn Beck, with real stories from American veterans, families and grassroots leaders who endured personal attacks and penalties because of their political affiliation.

“It is an A+ movie that we spent six months making, and I’m sure that we can do better. I’m a perfectionist, and I can guarantee that our next movie will raise the bar,” said Bergman.

Over the next two years, Bergman said he plans to produce six more documentary films on “hard-hitting issues” such as the military police state, tax reform and the environment before branching out into more standard theatrical productions.

“We have a formula that works and we’re not afraid,” said Bergman.

It’s been one year since Lois Lerner officially retired from the Internal Revenue Service amid accusations that the tax agency improperly had targeted tea party and other conservative groups. Now, Lerner is speaking out and offering no apologies for her role in the scandal.

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner told Politico, echoing the few words she uttered to a congressional panel investigating the targeting. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.”

Daily Signal’s Genevieve Wood talks to Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer representing many of the groups targeted by the IRS, and Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, about the IRS and Justice Department’s stonewalling — and what can be done.
